About the Event

Explore the fundamentals of dyeing with Indigo and Japanese Shibori. You’ll learn the basic process of vat dyeing with plant derived, beautiful blue Indigo. Experiment with various Shibori resist techniques to create patterns on fabric and then use this knowledge to dye items brought from home. This is a great opportunity for sustainable upcycling, creating gifts or building craft stash.

Please bring up 1 - 5 items from home to dye. Choose natural materials - cotton, linen, silk, wool and hemp - and pre washed is best.  Please do not bring bulky items (jeans, wool jumpers, sheets, duvets) as vat space will be limited. Wear suitable old clothes. You will also need elbow length rubber gloves, a container to take wet materials home, and you may wish to bring a camera or notebook to document as you go.

Cost includes dye, equipment and morning tea. Please BYO lunch. Suitable for beginner adult dyers.
