About the Event

Join myself, the Ecoprintcess and Queen Bee, Grass Esposti for a day out at the beautiful gardens of Beetopia Honey Tasting Shed in Omaha. Our sweet little event offers you 3 mini workshops interspersed with a delicous lunch, honey tasting and much more.

The day begins with morning tea and kōrero from Grass, the founder of Beetopia and the Warkworth Beekeepers Society, whose passion for all things bees is infectious. Then we'll ramble in the garden to visit the hives and gather flowers before returning for our first workshop of the day: a taste of natural dyeing with fresh and dried flowers to create yourself a simply stunning silk satin pillowslip to take home. While your bundle of silk is 'brewing', visit the shed to savour honey tastings of diverse varietals with the chance to buy treats to take home. A select range of Nuku dyed clothing will also be available for sale.

After a yummy plant based lunch we move onto on our next 2 activites. You'll make a pot of natural raw honey facial scrub that will have you glowing in the dark. And then whip up a couple of drizzled pinecone fire starters ready for your deliciously scented winter fire. At the end of the day, it's time to unbundle the silks and reveal the unique colours and patterns that the petals have made.

Please bring with you:

A small selection of flowers with deeply coloured petals to add to the floral dye mix.

Sun protection and water bottle, and good footwear.

A camera to document the day (optional).

A container to take wet pillowslip home.

A bag for all your honey related goodies.

Note that Beetopia is a working apiary, if you have a known allergy to bee stings bring your own medication and notify either myself or Grass on arrival.

Eftpos available for purchases.
