About the Event

Have you an artistic soul that needs nurturing? Come to this have-a-go short course in eco printing, otherwise known as botanical contact print. Make colours and unique prints using leaves and flowers on fabric that has been pre-prepared for you to take plant dyes.  We'll use a hot bundle technique to create your designs, and enjoy a cuppa and cake in a garden setting while we wait for the magic to happen. Then unbundle your work and experience the joy of having created something sustainable and unique to keep. Please bring a small selection of leaves or brightly coloured flowers from your garden or a place significant to you. All other materials, morning tea and fabrics included.

Karen Williamson is an natural dyer with experience in eco printing and in teaching workshops. For an insight into the process see Karen's short video at YouTube

Please note, for an full day's masterclass including how to mordant fabrics for dyeing, Karen runs a full day workshop entitled 'From Whenua to Fibre' once or twice per year and individual lessons by arrangement.
