About the Event
A full day hands on workshop in natural dyeing and eco print, otherwise known as botanical contact print. Learn how to use various seasonal plant sources to create unique colours and prints on natural cellulose based textiles. During this workshop you will learn how to prepare your fabrics for dyeing with a mordant, foraging for suitable plants with a tikanga approach, designing your leaf patterns, wrapping a bundle and more. Each participant will recieve a set of 2 flax linen tea towels to infuse with beautiful colours and take home. Bring another item of clothing from to home to dye - full instructions on suitable fabrics will be sent on registration.
Please also bring a small selection of leaves, petals or seeds from your garden or a place significant to you, plus a notebook or camera to document as you learn. Materials, tutoring and morning/afternoon tea included. BYO lunch.
