About the Event
Gather together around in a stitching circle, and assemble a brooch, or a mini art work, embellished with your own positive affirmation.
You will learn the steps to assembling this little wearable art from recycled materials with 'inherant thingyness', but the creative ownership is all yours. Infuse your personality on the piece with your design, choice of colours, found objects and embellishments.
Provided: a variety of natural hand dyed fabric remnants, beads, found objects, coloured threads, letter stamps and basic sewing kit.
Bring any other small items you'd like to add to your work. This might be your own beads and threads, special vintage treasures, buttons, shells, rusty objects, broken jewellry, a kilt pin, or other memento.
You will also need a sewing kit of various sized needles and a pair of fabric or embroidery scissors.
Prior experience with hand stitching is essential. Although some embroidery skills will be useful you definitely do not need to be an expert.
A simple vegetarian lunch is provided plus lots of warming cups of tea/coffee. Please BYO snacks.
