About the Event
Join me in this short course in eco printing, otherwise known as botanical contact print. This seasonal workshop will explore the potential of using winter evergreen leaves, including some well known New Zealand natives to make leaf prints on a merino gauze scarf. No mordant or chemicals will be needed, just the extraction of natural tannins using a hot bundle technique to create your designs. We'll have lunch and cake while we wait for the magic to happen before you reveal work and experience the joy of having created something sustainable and unique to keep. All materials, tea/coffee and merino included. Suitable for beginners aged 16 and up.
BYO lunch, and if you wish, some evergreen leaves from your own garden or place of significance.
Please note, for an full day's masterclass including how to mordant fabrics for dyeing, Karen runs a full day workshop entitled 'From Whenua to Fibre' once or twice per year and individual lessons by arrangement.
